Science and Society
Is it possible to carry out basic research, applied research and popularize science at the same time?. I say, at least we should try.
And that is precisely what I do and try to convey to my students.
On the one hand, we need to tell people why our research is so important, but in addition to this, we need to let people know what science is about, its deep impact on our technological society and on their lives. Plus, it's always great when you share with other people the awe and amazement that comes with discovery.
 

That is why contributing to public understanding of science represents an additional effort  which I consider an important part of my activities as a scientist. Personally I find it most rewarding and recommend it to everyone in the trade.
